The 2018 Golf for Guide Dogs scored high marks from a field of 124 golfers, dinner guests and other participants.

The charity golf tournament, held Aug. 24th at Mayfair Lakes Golf and Country Club in Richmond, was played under ideal conditions – with the sun and clear skies breaking through after more than a week of smoky weather caused by the B.C. Interior and Okanagan wildfires.

Golfers finishing the 18 holes said the course played well and the greens rolled true.

The annual event raises funds for BC Guide Dogs so the non-profit can breed, raise and train Guide Dogs for visually impaired and blind individuals, Autism Support Dogs for children with profound autism and PTSD Service Dogs for armed forces and RCMP veterans dealing with PTSD. This year marked the 21st Golf for Guide Dogs tournament.

The golf was followed by a dinner and silent and live auctions. Participants also had the opportunity to pose for a photo with Leah and Howie Meeker, the hosts of the event. Howie Meeker is a four-time winner of the Stanley Cup with the Toronto Maple Leafs. He was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame as a broadcaster in 1998 and received the Order of Canada in 201o.

It was also a successful event because of the role of sponsors. This year’s sponsors are listed below.
