Grade 6 student collects over 100,000 tabs for BC & Alberta Guide Dogs

It was in the summer of 2013, after enjoying a cool pop with her Great Gramma, Madison became inspired to save the tabs from pop cans. Just like her Great Grandma, Madison began collecting these for a worthy cause. After one year, Madison, with donations of tabs from her friends, family and neighbors had amassed 25,000 tabs. In the Fall of 2014, she carried a large blue tub to school and eagerly asked her grade 6 teacher if she could collect tabs from each class on a weekly basis. Madison wrote announcements and enthusiastically broadcast them over the school P.A. each week reminding students to bring in their tabs… and they did. In total, Madison collected over 100,000 tabs! Madison has created a display barometer for students to witness the ever-rising numbers of tabs collected each week. On January 15, 2016, Madison proudly presented the money raised from these tabs to Autism Support Dogs at the 8th Annual KITZ4KIDs Fundraiser.
