The 10th annual Kidz4Kids tribute event drew more than 200 people and raised more than $25,000 for Autism Support Dogs.
The event, held at the River Rock Casino, is held each year in memory of Andrew Dolejsi and organized by parents Eva and Lad.
One of the highlights of this year’s Kidz4Kids was the fundraising efforts of Violet, Harlo and Theoren Dolejsi, nieces and nephew of the late Andrew. Through small events, such as bake sales, they fundraised approximately $3,500 during 2017. They took to the stage during the Kidz4Kids event and asked those attending to help them reach their goal of $3,600. It worked. An enthusiastic crowd chipped in and brought the total up to $4,267.
Kidz4Kids was also attended by dogs and puppies being trained by B.C. and Alberta Guide Dogs to become Guide Dogs and Autism Support Dogs. During the evening, Margaret Kay spoke to the audience about the impact of Autism Support Dog Walter, a yellow lab who she brought with her. Walter is the Autism Support dog for Ryan, grandson of Margaret.
