Laura lost her sight when she was 7 years old due to a brain tumor. Since then she has been dreaming of the day she can get her very own Guide Dog. While she waits until she is into her double digits, she has taken it upon herself to raise funds in support of Alberta Guide Dogs so that others in need can have their own life-changing companions.
This year Laura, with help from her mom Jennifer, is having a raffle for knitted items that she has created, including a Harry Potter inspired blanket plus four house scarves. Laura hopes to raise $1,000 and will be selling $2 raffle tickets via email (jennrushforth@gmail.com) and at the upcoming Alberta Guide Dogs Open House on Saturday, December 7th; raffle winners will be drawn that day.
Alberta Guide Dogs invite the public to visit the Calgary office to watch some of their puppies-in-training demonstrate their skills, purchase goodies and gifts from their Christmas shop, and much more. Please RSVP to www.bcandalbertaguidedogs.com/alberta-openhouse if you plan on attending.
