Rungo Dash for Dogs raised $6700 for BC & Alberta Guide Dogs

For the second year in a row, Rungo and BC & Alberta Guide Dogs have partnered for a wonderful event called “Dash For Dogs”, held at Stanley Park on February 20, 2016.  Over 175 participants with their dogs attended and completed either a 2k, 5k or 10k, walk/run in support of BC & Alberta Guide Dogs and a grand total of $6,700 was raised.

The partnership began last year between Rungo and BC & Alberta Guide Dogs when Rungo’s CEO and Founder Craig Slagel realized that the his voice activated app originally created for walkers and runners would greatly benefit blind and visually impaired runners and walkers as well.

Thank you to Craig, Rungo, all the sponsors, volunteers and everyone who attended the annual ‪Dash For Dogs event! The donation will go a long way in helping to support the breeding, raising and training of Guide dogs and Autism Support Dogs for clients in need of this service.

About RunGo

RunGo’s Story

The company’s founding is really all thanks to guide dogs. The app was the vision of Craig Slagel, an avid ultra marathon runner who runs extremely long distances wherever he can find them. Craig traveled extensively for work, and without knowing where to run in these new places, he often ended up in dark back alleys, or he simply stayed on the treadmill, to avoid getting lost. In 2013, Craig adopted a retired guide dog, Dynasty. At the time, Craig was starting a new company, and Dynasty came to inspire a whole new idea. What if he could have someone like Dynasty, to guide him on his runs, whenever he wanted? RunGo and its voice navigation for runners was born, and since then, the company has grown to a team of six, based in Vancouver’s dog-loving Yaletown neighbourhood. (And yes, Dynasty comes to work each day!)

Why RunGo Supports BC & Alberta Guide Dogs?

It’s really thanks to Dynasty and the guide dogs that RunGo is here today! Today, the inspiration of the guide dogs has become the foundation of our company. To honour the huge contribution that Guide Dogs has given our company, we love to give back and support them any way we can. Plus, it’s fun, we love using our skills to help others, and we love puppies.
