Generous long-time supporters, government officials, sponsors and volunteers, joined by puppies in training and adult Service Dogs, came together on Saturday, May 11, 2019 at the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver to raise funds for BC & Alberta Guide Dog Services towards Guide Dog, Autism Support Dog, and PTSD Service Dog programs for individuals and families across BC & Alberta.
The 14th Annual Ties & Tails Charity Auction & Gala was a fun-filled evening full of laughter, inspiring stories and generous support in what BC & Alberta Guide Dogs CEO, Bill Thornton referred to as, “having dinner with 300 of our close friends.”
Speakers Mark Bentz, Stéphane Marcotte and Denise Jansen brought the crowd to their feet with amazing stories of how their Guide and Service Dogs have changed their lives. Their courage was evident throughout their thoughtful testimonials.
MC and City Councillor for Port Coquitlam Steve Darling did an excellent job managing the evening’s proceedings and our Auctioneer and MLA for South Delta Ian Paton made sure that bids came in fast for the evening’s silent and live auction items. Many individuals and organizations donated all the amazing items on offer at Ties & Tails and these were very popular with the attendees.
“We would like to thank everyone who played a part in creating such a wonderful evening, “says Thornton, “their dedication and support helps make a life-changing difference for people who are blind and visually impaired, children with profound autism and military and RCMP Veterans living with Post-Traumatic Stress.”
BC & Alberta Guide Dogs would like to recognize Hosting sponsor Fairmont Hotel Vancouver for a beautiful venue and meal; Platinum level sponsors Peterson, Grosvenor and Mott Electric, as well as Raffle sponsor WestJet for their invaluable financial contributions; and Champagne sponsor Simpson & Associates, Wine sponsor Select Wines, Ruby level sponsors Gateway Casinos and Crowe MacKay LLP for their generous support as well. Additional thanks to Ladner’s “The Flower Shop in the Village”, Mink Chocolates Vancouver, and Vancouver Graphics Group for their in-kind contributions that put a perfect finishing touch on an enjoyable event.
